The event has seen a surge of interest over the last few years, and there were 70+ riders participating in the 2021 edition. That first year, just over 20 riders lined up in Little Rock planning to tackle the route, and nearly half would eventually scratch from the race. The inaugural Arkansas High Country Race was held back in 2019, and at that time, the event followed a single 1,037-mile course based on Adventure Cycling Association’s Arkansas High Country Route.
